Rover partners with an industry-leading, third-party screening service to perform comprehensive background checks. While Rover offers a "Basic" check for some legacy users, the Enhanced Background Check is the gold standard. It explicitly includes:

• National Criminal Database Search: A sweeping check for any disqualifying criminal offenses across the United States.

• National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) Search: A thorough screening of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) database.

• Seven-Year County Court Records Search: Unlike the basic check, the Enhanced version includes a manual look back at county criminal court records based on specific address history over the past seven years. This adds an extra layer of localized, deep-dive scrutiny.

• Identity Verification: Cross-referencing legal name, date of birth, and Social Security Number to guarantee vetted identification.
